Getting Around: Exploring the Flathead While Columbia Falls is a quintessential “Gateway” town, it is best experienced by those who value a balance between walkability and the freedom to explore the wider wilderness. Here is how you can navigate the area during your stay: Walkability & Local Access Your location at 122 4th St West puts you in an excellent position to enjoy the “core” of Columbia Falls on foot. You are just a short, pleasant walk from the heart of downtown Nucleus Avenue. We encourage our guests to leave the car parked and stroll to our local cafes, community markets, and craft breweries. The neighborhood streets are quiet, well-maintained, and perfectly suited for an morning walk to soak in the mountain views. Transportation Options Rental Vehicles: Because our area is vast and offers world-class sights extending far beyond the city limits, having a personal vehicle is highly recommended. A rental car will offer you the flexibility to visit Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake, and the surrounding wilderness areas on your own schedule. Ride-Sharing & Taxis: Uber and Lyft operate within the Flathead Valley, though wait times can fluctuate depending on the season and time of day. For those relying on these services, we suggest booking your rides in advance when heading to major trailheads or the airport. Public Transit: Please note that public transit is limited in this region. If you are planning a trip into Glacier National Park from mid-summer, be sure to look into the Glacier Park Express (seasonal shuttle services) which can help alleviate parking congestion at the park entrance. A Note on Mountain Travel Living in the Flathead means respecting the landscape. Roads to popular attractions can be narrow or winding, and weather conditions can shift quickly. We recommend checking local traffic and weather reports before heading out for the day, especially if your plans take you higher into the mountain passes.
